What is liposculpture ?
Liposculpture surgery by Dr. Steven Dominguez improves the contour and proportion of your body by removing isolated areas of excess fat. It slims and reshapes for an enhanced self image.
Areas most commonly treated byDr. Steven Dominguez with liposculpture include the double chin and neck, hips, abdomenal fat after liposuction or tummy tuck, inner and outer thighs, knees and ankles, and upper buttocks. Liposculpture also may be used to treat a condition called gynecomastia, or male breast enlargement, which occurs among both teenage and adult men.
Liposculpture is is a process offering a way to a smoother, trimmer body for those with isolated areas of fat that won't go away with weight loss or exercise.
Dr. Steven Dominguez has been practicing this art for over 30 years, and teaches the advanced face and body sculpting techniques at a major So Cal Univerisity plastic surgery training program, and plastic surgery CME courses. Dr. Steven Dominguez does not teach non-plastic surgeons the advanced liposculpture techniques.
Am I a candidate for liposculpture?
The best candidate for liposculpture is a person of average or slightly above-average weight, in good health, with a localized area of fat that does not respond well to diet and exercise.
Do I need general anesthesia for liposculpture?
Dr. Steven Dominguez performs Tumescent liposculpture which is the most commonly used liposuction technique that does not require general anesthesia. Dr. Steven Dominguez injects both numbing and blood vessel constricting medications into the fat layer. This technique result in less pain and bleeding, and therefore less bruising and a faster recovery period. The surgery is specific and sculpts using hand held syringes and special cannulas. This is NOT liposuction using suction machines and hence it is not intended to debulk.
What results can I expect?
During liposculpture, the fat cells are removed permanently, so if you gain weight after the procedure it usually will not concentrate in the area that was treated. However, it is important to understand that liposculpture will not prevent you from gaining weight. To keep your new shape and new weight after liposculpture, you must follow a proper diet and exercise plan.
What is involved in recovery?
Liposculpture is an outpatient procedure, and recovery is fairly rapid. Most people can return to work within a few days and to normal activities within about two weeks. Every person’s outcome will vary based on factors such as volume of fat cells removed and area of removal. Dr. Steven Dominguez will advise you when you can return to daily activities depending upon your particular case.
